Hot Cross Buns
On Easter Thursday we made Hot Cross Buns.  We looked at two recipes.  The first was a 'quick let's get cooking, guests are coming' and 'I have nothing in the cupboard', using baking powder.  The next was a delicious yeast recipe that takes time, due to all the rising and kneading that is required.
Because it was the start of Easter I thought it would be fun for my class of five-year-olds to join in and help the adults make these traditional buns.
I tried to find the original link to the following recipe, but I was unable to,  so I am attaching a screenshot of the recipe.  If anyone knows where the original link is please can you let me know so that I can acknowledge the owner of this recipe?

We added extra seasoning and ingredients to this recipe, which you can do also.  We replaced honey with golden syrup, which is cheaper. We included finely diced pieces of pear, apple, and orange rind.  Make the recipe suit your taste.

The first link is the recipe.
The second link is the video on YouTube of Paul Hollywood making his recipe for the buns.  Just in case you want to watch him make the buns before you try it for yourself.
We loved this recipe.  However, for my personal taste, I would have included more seasoning.
Let us know what you think if you try making it. This recipe takes about 5 hours to produce. To shorten the time you could start the first rise overnight.
